Out there… Greenwich Christine Lai she was recently selected as the 2022 Patriots Difference Maker of the Week for her commitment to the Special Education Legal Fund. SELF helps economically disadvantaged families of children with learning disabilities navigate the special education system. After more than a decade of educational challenges for her own son, Lai dedicated herself to making special education and services for people with intellectual disabilities more accessible to all families regardless of economic status. During the 2022 season, the Kraft family, the New England Patriots Foundation and Gillette recognized 17 local volunteers with the Patriots Difference Maker of the Week Award. As part of this recognition, The Kraft familyThe New England Patriots Foundation and Gillette will make a $5,000 donation to support the nonprofit represented by each award winner who also received a pair of tickets to the Patriots’ final home game on Jan. 1 against the Miami Dolphins and participated in the pregame ceremony.
Scene… Haven Hot Chicken, one of the first hot chicken concepts in Nashville, New England, is opening its third location at 596 Westport Ave. in Norwalk on Saturday, January 28th. On opening day, they will be giving away free sandwiches to the first 300 guests to visit the new location. The 2,500-square-foot location will feature the brand’s signature menu of chicken recipes and vegetarian options ranging from non-spicy to super spicy, as well as their signature fries and sides. The restaurant’s staple was named “Best Chicken Sandwich” in Connecticut Magazine’s 2021 annual reader poll.
