AAA: Florida Gas Prices Drop as 2.7 Million Floridians Prepare for a Thanksgiving Road Trip

From AAA

Gas prices in Florida are falling as millions prepare to hit the road for Thanksgiving. AAA forecasts that 2.9 million Floridians will travel over the holiday weekend. Almost 2.7 million (91%) of them will drive.

“Florida drivers may have something extra to be thankful for this Thanksgiving,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Pump prices are likely to fall over the holiday weekend. Gasoline prices could ultimately fall by 20-30 cents a gallon. The decline is being driven by strong refinery output, which led to a large increase in the supply of gasoline.”

Pump prices already fell 10 cents a gallon last week. On Sunday, gasoline prices in Florida averaged $3.46 per gallon. That’s 10 cents a gallon plus that what the Thanksgiving travelers did last year. The most expensive Thanksgiving gas price on record was $3.46 per gallon in 2013. Based on current trends, the state average may fall below last year’s levels by Thanksgiving.
